During November, by appointment, schedule a Fall arts and crafts workshop that include fabric pumpkins, Fall gnomes, eco-print leaf for ornaments, pins, magnets, etc., an eco print cowl (vintage wool or silk) and Virginia barn roof slate to paint native leaves and pumpkins for yard art. 

Workshops range from $10 to $30 per person (1 to 3 hours). Come select your fall art or craft to make or commission. All upcycle materials are provided. You can also purchase certificates for yourself or family or friends for a later date. Historic House Portrait Sessions
Come visit the Nelms House, a town historic landmark, for indoor and garden photography in June, during Smithfield’s Summertime Celebration, and through September. Have fun exploring the rooms to take photography in this Victorian and Art Deco designed venue. Take photos in a native plant garden designed for environmental management and wildlife habitat. If interested in participating in a Nelms House Photo Exhibit, ask about guidelines. While photographing, enjoy High Tea/Coffee Refreshments ($5/person). If professional photographers visit the venue during Fri and Sat noon to 5 p.m. when discounts are available for photo sessions booked in 2019. During the visit, just sign the Photographer Registry to receive your 2019 discount! Special Portrait Session Offer! You can book portrait sessions in advance at the Nelms House and other historic district shops with Heather Hughes Photography offering family, engagement, senior and portrait sessions for visitors starting at $250.
