The Graif Foundation is pleased to present Baroque performance ensemble, The Wren Masters, on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
The Wren Masters specialize in the historical performance of 17th and 18th century music on period instruments; baroque violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord. Originally formed in 2005, the Wrens are named after their favorite performance space, William & Mary’s Christopher Wren Chapel, circa 1693. The Wren Masters are Virginia Commission for the Arts touring performing artists and members of the W&M Applied Music Faculty. The ensemble will present a program of music by the German composers Bach, Biber, Buxtehude, Kriegher, and Schmelzer. The baroque French composer, Jean-Philippe Rameau, will add a twist to this program of German Gems featuring the virtuosity of the harpsichord in his Piéces de Claveçin en Concerts, Suite V.
This program is made possible through generous grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
