May 3rd and 4th Kathleen Winters, a native of Newport News will spend two days in Smithfield sharing her expertise as a flute teacher and performer. On Saturday, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, 8 young flutists, selected by audition, will perform for a master class conducted by Ms. Winters in front of a live audience.
On Sunday at 4:00 pm, Ms. Winters will give a flute recital on the SAF concert series. Admission: Adults $20; Students $10. Those students who performed in the master class will be given free entrance to the recital. Ms. Winters expects to soon complete her doctorate at the University of Illinois. She maintains a private studio in Newport News, and is an Adjunct Professor at CNU.
