The Tidewater Guitar Orchestra

Sundays at Four opens its 2024 – 2025 Concert Season on September 22 at 4:00 pm at Christ Episcopal Church with the Tidewater Guitar Orchestra under the leadership of Patrick Garrison. This concert is made possible with a grant from The Virginia Commission for the Arts, and our sponsors Karen and Dru Stowe.

The ensemble is comprise of over a dozen highly skilled guitarists who harness the rich sounds of a diverse array of guitars and a vast repertoire of 17th to 21st century music with a special focus on music of the Americias.

There are only a handful of guitar orchestras across the United States, and we are fortunate to have a fine one in Hampton Roads. Founded in 1995 by Sam Dorsey, who continues to play with the group, it was modeled after an orchestra in Costa Rica.  Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this ensemble and to see it close up and personal. The orchestra performs a variety of music. Some composed by the players themselves.
